Hunting Opportunities

Six Hunting Opportunities. Thousands of Private Acres.

Western South Dakota offers diverse hunting across open prairie, irrigated crop ground, creek bottoms, shelter belts, draws, and native grassland. Hunts are limited and arranged individually based on species, season, and availability.

Whitetail Deer

October – December

Whitetail Deer

Still hunting, spot-and-stalk, rattling, and calling.

Our creek bottoms, shelter belts, draws, alfalfa fields, and grain stubble provide strong whitetail habitat. We limit hunter numbers and manage access carefully to preserve quality opportunities.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

    Licensing

Hunters are responsible for obtaining all required South Dakota deer licenses and tags. Season dates, license availability, and unit restrictions vary. Please confirm current requirements with South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks before applying.

    Pronghorn Antelope

    August – October

    Pronghorn Antelope

Spot & stalk on open prairie

Pronghorn hunting on the open shortgrass prairie is one of the most physically engaging hunts we offer. These animals have exceptional eyesight and live in wide-open country — stalking within range is a genuine challenge. We know the terrain and where the herds move.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

      Licensing

South Dakota pronghorn licenses are issued by draw.

      Wild Turkey

Spring (April – May) & Fall (September – November)

      Wild Turkey

      Calling, decoys, blind hunting

Both spring and fall turkey seasons are available on our property. Spring toms are vocal and responsive to calling — classic blind and decoy setups in the creek bottoms and field edges. Fall hunting is focused more on grouping birds coming to winter grounds.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

        Licensing

South Dakota turkey licenses are available through SD GFP.

        Canada Geese

        September – January

        Canada Geese

Field decoy spreads, pit blinds, layout blinds

The fall migration pushes large numbers of Canada geese through western South Dakota. Opportunities are abundant in our harvested grain fields and stock dam landing areas.  When the migration is moving, the shooting can be exceptional. We also hunt resident birds earlier in the season. Hunters are expected to provide their own calls and decoys.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

          Licensing

South Dakota small game license and federal migratory bird stamp required. HIP registration also required. All are the hunter's responsibility.

          Grouse & Partridge

          September – January

          Grouse & Partridge

          Walk-up hunting, pointing dogs welcome

Sharp-tailed grouse and Hungarian partridge are both present on our property. Walk-up hunting through native grass, CRP, and stubble fields. We welcome hunters who bring their own pointing dogs — the country is well-suited for it. This is classic upland hunting on big, open ground.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

            Licensing

South Dakota small game license required.

            Predator Hunting

            Year-round

            Predator Hunting

            Electronic and mouth calling, spot-and-stalk.

Coyotes and foxes are common on the property and surrounding country. We offer year-round predator hunting with both electronic and mouth calls.  Raccoons, badgers, and skunks are also present.

Private-land access varies by species, season, and ranch conditions. Available acreage depends on the hunt.

              Licensing

South Dakota furbearer license may be required depending on season and method. Confirm current regulations with SD GFP before your hunt.
